Power4Good works in the poorest regions of African countries. When starting new programmes P4G staff visit and assess very carefully. In this way P4G can guarantee that funds go directly to the poorest people in any country.

Power4Good runs a range of programmes in the countries within which it works concentrating on poverty reduction, education and human rights.

Below are a few paragraphs on the projects we run.

ADEPt:
The Advancing Disability Equality Project - this is now a national programme which uses Casework and Law to challenge discrimination experienced by people with disabilities across education employment access and health. This project has been running for over three years and is recognised regionally and internationally.
A detailed summary of these programmes can be downloaded in PDF format from the DOWNLOADS section.

Mental Health:

In Zambia we are developing, in partnership with the Open Society Institute (US), the Mental Health Users Network of Zambia and our partner ZAFOD, a new project to write a new Mental Health Act to replace the 1951 Mental Disorders Act. This is a partnership programme involving close collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

DEEP:

The Disability Economic Empowerment Programme incorporates a range of projects providing micro-finance services (savings and loans), livelihoods, training, sheltered employment and cooperative employment for people with disabilities. We are running and expanding these programmes in Zimbabwe and possible Botswana this year.

IMU UNCRPD:

This programme focuses on the establishment of an Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) to monitor the Governments performance on Domestication of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRP) in Zambia. It is the first project of its kind in Africa.
