Power 4 Good are the only NGO in Ireland set up specifically to help disabled people in developing countries to achieve independence and self-respect

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank you for your interest in Power 4 Good which was set up in 2005. We are the only NGO in Ireland set up specifically to help disabled people in developing countries to achieve independence and self-respect. To be disabled in very low income countries is to become invisible; to be the very poorest of the poor, denied access to education, healthcare, public transport and employment, and generally unable to participate in the local community. In our own history we have faced and overcome similar problems, and Power 4 Good will seek to capture the skills and experience that exist in abundance in Ireland to help us with our work.

Our vision is that of a world where people with disabilities can enjoy full Human Rights and achieve their full potential.

Our mission is to create strategic partnerships with local disability organizations in Africa to ensure that vital support reaches those most in need in local communities.

Power 4 Good Actions include:

  • Human and Civil Rights
  • Advocacy
  • Capacity Building
  • Training & Education (Vocational, Primary, Secondary and Third Level)
  • Employment Creation
  • Community Development
  • Access to Health Care
  • Information on Entitlements

We have a considerable amount of funds to raise, and we have received great support from local communities, particularly Tullamore and surrounding areas, through cash donations and donations to our Charity Shops in Tullamore and Clara, Church Gate collections and other fundraising events.

Power 4 Good is governed by a Board of Directors from various parts of Ireland representing a wide range of interests in the public, private and community sectors.
